A L’Usine Bleue Original
Bleu de travail, bleu de chauffe, coltin.
Blessed with many names, there’s no more iconic item in French workwear than the blue, unlined, four-pocket work jacket. Originally designed for heavy-duty use in factories and workshops, it has long since become a truly universal garment—worn by everyone, everywhere.
The L’Usine Bleue Coltin Work Jacket comes in original hydron blue, featuring the classic four pockets and a shirt-style collar.
The fabric comes from one of the last textile mills in France, operating since 1848. The dyeing is done in eastern France.
For the sewing, we collaborate with one of the last remaining French specialists in workwear, producing since 1921.
Each jacket is gently washed twice to prevent future shrinkage. The fabric will take a few weeks of wear to soften and mold perfectly to your body.

The coltin version is perfect. Lengthwise, it sits just where I want it to, on the hips. When you flip it inside out, you can see all the stitching done. This thing will last for decades. It’s very stiff, obviously. And is still stiff after the first cold wash. I’m looking forward to making this jacket my own.
