Breton coat ”Kabig” men’s
The kabig is a Breton wool coat related to the duffel coat and originally made for shore fishermen on Pays Pagan on the tip of the Breton peninsula. In the 1960s it migrated from the shores to the streets, becoming an instant classic – almost a ”breton” uniform.
The traditional kabig is made from Dalmard – an ancient wool cloth, which after weaving goes through a mechanical treatment with water, making it very dense, hard wearing and waterproof. It has two notched from pockets, shoulder fins and is closed with wooden toggles.
Our Kabigs are made by Dalmard Marine, a family business which has made fine work-wear for life at sea since 1922.
